Finovox x Meelo: a partnership in the fight against fraud

“Finovox is a French start-up specializing in the detection of false documents. The Finovox solution reduces the risk of document fraud by 6 by instantly analyzing and verifying the authenticity of any type of document, whether it is standardized or not. It is therefore quite natural that Meelo and Finovox have found effective synergies to combat fraud and the risk of non-payment. Explanations through the cross interview with Marc de Beaucorps, CEO of Finovox and Maxence Pruvost, Head Of Sales at Meelo. »

Why seek to fight against documentary fraud?

Document fraud is everywhere

Identity papers, pay slips, employment contracts, bank statements, tax notices… document fraud is everywhere. It seems to have become a truly national sport, and “even international”, specifies Marc de Beaucorps. It costs businesses and communities 40 billion euros per year

All sectors of activity are concerned: banking, insurance, mobile telephony, real estate, recruitment, social organizations, customs services, etc. The figures speak for themselves and are constantly increasing. In rental real estate files, “ one file in two would contain at least one falsified document ,” explains Maxence Pruvost. In the insurance field, nearly 20% of respondents to a study commissioned jointly by Yougov and Le Lynx in 2021 declared having modified documents to defraud their insurer. “ They were only 11% in 2020, which proves the clear progression of this practice ” according to Marc de Beaucorps.

Businesses and communities looking for solutions

In this context, more and more companies are looking for reliable solutions that save them time. Document control is a time-consuming activity and requires training. The two partners are unanimous: “ it takes a lot of time for the services responsible for verifications.

The hyper digitalization of organizations makes the task even more complicated. The number of documents exchanged by email or electronically is increasing every day. Companies are not always staffed accordingly and, paradoxically, most processes still require a lot of documentary verification. As a result, even structured services cannot control everything and, due to lack of time, allow falsified documents to slip through.

Documentary fraud is a permanent stress that many establishments cannot absorb ,” specifies Marc de Beaucorps. Not to mention the real risks of leaving feathers there. It is a major threat which ranges from simple financial damage to the disorganization of internal processes and can lead, in certain serious cases, to bankruptcy. “ This was the case for Urica, a British factoring company established in France. A massive fraud involving false invoices of several million euros, perpetrated by a farmer, forced the firm to suspend its activities overnight and file for bankruptcy.

If cases of documentary fraud are increasing, explains Maxence Pruvost, it is also because “ falsifying documents in a file has never been so easy. ” Between intuitive software and online tutorials, counterfeiters are spoiled for choice. There are even sites that sell false documents online: false pay slips, false diplomas, false employment contracts... Everything can be bought today for a few euros. Detecting falsified documents can be difficult. The document may appear to be compliant when it is not.

The final difficulty, adds Marc de Beaucorps, is that, even when fraud is detected, “ the sanctions are ultimately quite limited ”, opening the door to a certain feeling of impunity.

Why partner with Finovox to offer an efficient, turnkey solution?

Finovox is a solution for detecting false documents . It makes it possible to analyze a significant volume of documents in less than 5 seconds, without language or format constraints. It replaces tedious visual checks and speeds up the anomaly detection process. The advantage of Finovox is that it not only alerts you to the presence of errors, but is able to generate a complete report which details:

  • the precise location where the document was modified;
  • the date of the modification;
  • the software that carried out the falsification.

It is therefore an innovative solution that allows Meelo to maximize its performance and deploy its solution optimally to all of its users.

It is offered in two forms to customers:

  • a SaaS platform: Finovox Investigation , on which users upload their elements in order to detect those on which there is an alert and obtain an evidence report;
  • an API: Finovox Detection which integrates directly into information systems to continuously and automatically analyze all documents passing through companies.

Meelo , for its part, decided to integrate it into its own solution and systematically offer it to its customers

What are the fundamentals of the collaboration between Finovox and Meelo?

An alliance based on common values

3 values characterize the Finovox / Meelo alliance:

✔ The first is transparency and the desire to commit 100% to the collaboration. Either we believe in it or we don’t ,” explains Marc de Beaucorps. There is a real desire for sharing and success in our two companies .

✔︎ The second is excellence . At Meelo, it’s about offering the best solution and the best service ,” explains Maxence Pruvost. We are demanding as much of ourselves as of others. Everyone must be committed to doing their job well .

✔︎ The third, finally, is that the combination of our skills serves quantified objectives which are clearly shared by everyone. Here again, our vision is common. The goal is to reduce fraud globally and for this reduction to be virtuous and beneficial to everyone.

An effective partnership serving organizational performance

Our solutions are complementary ,” explains Marc de Beaucorps. Meelo is based on data. This constitutes a real plus and a reliable and innovative analytical response to the problems posed by financial fraud. Our tool specialized in the detection of false documents makes it possible to reinforce the effectiveness of Meelo on this particular aspect of fraud .

The two companies therefore logically set up an exclusive partnership, considering that they were, for each other, the most relevant partners.

To maximize the beneficial effects of collaboration, the Finovox and Meelo teams work together on a daily basis and keep each other informed of updates to their respective products, the development of new features or even feedback from their customers.

A fruitful collaboration serving users with the aim of saving them both time and money.

Meelo IBAN verification to secure payments

IBAN verification: a necessity in the face of the rise in banking fraud

The IBAN, or International Bank Account Number, has become a central element in financial transactions, particularly in the context of SEPA transfers. Its role: to precisely identify a bank account in the international network. However, this identifier, however structured, can become a gateway for fraud.
According to the annual report of the Observatory for the Security of Payment Methods (OSMP), published in September 2024, bank transfer fraud represented €312 million in 2023. Nearly half of this fraud (48%) is "fake IBAN scams," whether involving bank account substitutions during exchanges, manipulation of intermediaries, or even online diversions. The scope of vulnerabilities is vast.
In this context, securing payments inevitably requires the systematic verification of IBANs before their use. Manual verification, while possible, is often a source of errors, tedious, and ineffective on a large scale. This need for reliability and automation explains why IBAN verification is now an essential building block of a secure payment system.
